Cossack
Cossack offers a great insight into the hardships and successes of the early settlers. Take a look at the restored buildings, or stop at the cemetery and piece together history from the headstones.
The look out at Cossack offers a great view which extends to the Rio Tinto Iron Ore Wharf. If the tide is in, Settlers Beach is a great spot for a swim. The old jetty makes a relaxing fishing spot which has BBQ facilities adjacent that you drive right up to.
The 6km Cossack Heritage Trail takes you past old sites and original stone buildings & offers a unique glimpse into the North West’s colonial past. Cossack was a centre for pearl divers from 1866. By the 1870s over 80 boats were operating out of the port and divers from Japan, the Philippines, Malaysia and China were regularly stopping there.
